Numbers of Bridesmaids and Groomsmen

Numbers of Bridesmaids and Groomsmen

What about if you have a mismatched number of groomsmen and bridesmaids?

Although traditional weddings used to be surrounded by an almost impenetrable veil of traditions, rules and customs, modern weddings are becoming a lot more relaxed from this point of view. For example, in the old day, the number of bridesmaids and groomsmen at a wedding would have coordinated with the actual guest headcount – but this is not the case anymore.

Yet, does this mean you can have a mismatched wedding party, with a different number of bridesmaids and groomsmen? Or is this still off-the-limits? We have the answers for you – so read on and find out more.

·       First of all, remember this: nothing should be completely forbidden at a wedding. You are who you are and your wedding should be about you and what you believe in – and if adding to the bridesmaids or groomsmen numbers just for the sake of “even-ness” doesn’t characterize you, then you shouldn’t do this.

·       Sure, some of you may think that a mismatched number of bridesmaids and groomsmen will pose problems at the wedding (especially at the ceremony). However, this doesn’t have to be so. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of solutions to solve this. For instance, you could ask a bridesmaid to be accompanied by two groomsmen when they walk down the aisle. Or, you could simply ask all of them to enter in an alternative way. Whatever you choose, their mismatched numbers will not be a problem in any way.

·       Last, but not least, don’t worry about the pictures either. Most of the photos with mismatched wedding parties look cuter, more creative and a lot more entertaining than the more traditional ones – so here’s for another reason not to have the same number of bridesmaids and groomsmen!
