Your dream wedding deserves to come true – but before you start booking your venue and your vendors, you should first be aware of your budget too. What are the “hidden costs” to take into consideration when planning the budget for the Big Day? We have gathered some of the most important tips you should know about this – so read on and find out more.
· Taxes and tips. These aren’t your classic “hidden costs”, as you most likely know about them. However, brides and grooms frequently fall into the trap of not paying attention to these costs – which can put a pretty heavy burden on their finances. In general, it is advisable that you set aside a third of your total wedding costs for tips and taxes.
· Overtime fees. Certain wedding vendors (such as DJs, bands or photographers) will specify how many hours you can hire them for. This will be clearly written in the contract, so read twice before signing the dotted line and make sure you know what you pay for. Keep in mind: keeping the vendors more than it is specified in the contract is usually considered “overtime” and it will be charged as extra on your bill!
· Postage fees. The odder-shaped, bulkier and larger your wedding Save the Date cards and invitations are, the more you will pay for postage. This is something many couples do not consider when ordering their invitations, but realize only later on, when they have to pay for the postage fees. Calculate this into your wedding budget if you plan on having very unique wedding invitations!
