Wording your Save the Date Cards

Make sure you word them correctly

Make sure you word them correctly

Although not absolutely mandatory, “Save the Date” cards are a great option when you want to make sure guests will not have anything else planned on your wedding day. Moreover, they are truly important when you plan a destination wedding or when your wedding falls on the same date as a large celebration as well.

How to create and word your “Save the Date” cards correctly? We have gathered some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

First and foremost, do send “Save the Date” cards to everyone – even the people you know will come at your wedding (such as your Maid of Honor or Best Man, for example).

·       These cards should be sent with about 6 months before the wedding date. However, if you plan a destination wedding or a wedding that overlaps on another holiday, you might want to send the “Save the Date” cards 8 months before the wedding.

·       In general, the “Save the Date” cards shouldn’t include more than your names, the date and the exact location of your wedding. As for the wording, you can allow yourself to be as casual or as formal as you want to (but keep in mind that this should go in line with your wedding’s level of formality).

·       Last, but not least, you are more than encouraged to be creative with the design (as well as with the wording). The “Save the Date” cards are generally considered to be a lot less formal than the actual invitations – so, as long as they are in line with the general style of the wedding, they can definitely be a bit more creative than the formal invitations.
