3 Tips on How You Can Have an Intimate Wedding Without Offending Everyone You Know

Having a big wedding is not what every couple wants. Having a more intimate setting in a smaller place is most preferred, and there are some reasons for this.

It is becoming increasingly popular to see host weddings. This may be because some couples want to cut down on wedding expenses or just to share their day with people that means the most to them and no one else.

Of course, this means you have to tell someone people know, but how do you do this without hurting them or jeopardizing your relationship with them?

The tips below should answer that. They are steps you can take to avoid conflict with your guest list.

  • Forward Planning

If having an intimate wedding is what you have decided on, you should draft out the guest list early. The number of guests to have at your wedding that will be enough depends on you.

Some couples have 20 persons while others can have up to 70 people. Whatever the number you want, just discuss it with your partner and start your guest list with the names of family and close friends.

A great thing you can do to reduce the number of guests is to have a child-free event, or you may consider not inviting acquaintances such as colleagues at work.

There is a statistic that proves 39% of couples fund their own wedding, thus, there is no need to invite distant relatives and friends of parents.

  • Being Open About What You Want

Inform friends and family earlier about your intentions for a small wedding, if you have any plans. And understandable explanation can look something like this: “sorry we will just have only close friends and family”.

You should be able to stick to any plan that you come up with. Stick to your plans for the number of guests you want and never let people think you will be inviting them when you have no intention of doing so. You need to be honest and open.

Make time to discuss with your family members about people they’ll really want invited to the event.

  • Find Different Ways to Celebrate

To celebrate their wedding and allow many friends and family to join in on the fun, some couples have an open ceremony and a closed one that is more intimate.

That way, the open ceremony caters to the larger groups of guests while the closed one is meant for loved ones, family and close friends only. Killing two birds with one stone, yeah?

Another alternative is to have a party after the wedding day. This will include those who missed the celebration.  One last option is a destination wedding, because you only travel with your closet friends and family.

This can be a really great alternative, but you need to consider those who might not able to travel due to one reason or the other.
